Whimsyy's Presentation Day with 'Group Yellow'.

Whimsyy's Presentation Day with 'Group Yellow'.     'Presentations have begun' -  Location- DIT classroom in SL. ( 13th December 2018) Well today is a day I will never forget. (13th December 2018) The day of the class presentations in Second Life. We were worried that being last would lose people’s attention but hoped that since there were only a few groups it would go well. It was our turn to present and we first sent the class a location link in S.L. We all teleported to Muriel001's 'furniture refurbishing' location. Well, all I can say is it didn't go to plan. A woman that as far as we could understand, was selling items in that location, wasn't happy to say the least about our arrival and banned us all from the location. We teleported back to the class and to say I was put off is an understatement. I was nervous as it was, especially with our group being last so my nerves had built up. I felt this situation had put a bad spin on ou

Whimsyy's Ninth Week

Whimsyy's Ninth Week The last missing member of our group has been added to the Facebook messenger group and has added his work to the Google Slides presentation. I am delighted as I feel we are all together as a group now. We have organised to go through the work on the 6th of December at 6pm. I will be back with an update. All of the group together. Update: Myself and the rest of the group yellow had a Messenger call on  the 6th of December at 6 pm as previously mentioned. We went through the work done so far and talked about any changes that was needed. The work was looking good and I was pleased with the progress. We organised to have the work completed before Wednesday the 12th so that we could do a practice run through the presentation as a group on a Messenger call. I made a second Google Slides account and asked if we all could place our related images to the written work on it. To also have our images placed in order of reader so that it would be ready to

Whimsyy's Eight Week

Whimsyy's Eight Week Privacy- http://www.brhs.com.au/privacy-information/ The topic of conversation on SL today was about privacy. Most of the class had never had to have a conversation with their circle of friends and family about limiting what is posted on social media. I personally have had a few situations were a Facebook messenger group was made to whomever was going to an event and was specifically asked not to, for example, “respect our privacy and to not post any pictures of our baby from the christening” or “could you not post any pictures of me”. I thought it was a normal thing to be asked as I feel everyone deserves their limit and privacy on social media. Not everything can be in your control but if something can be then everyone has the right to their privacy.  Group update: We are all continuing on writing our work on 'Google Slides' at the moment, refining our information. We still talk through messenger chat but will arrange a group call soon t

Whimsyy's Seventh Week

Whimsyy's Seventh Week Group Work Theory and Practice - https://www.newlinkstraining.com/management-and-leadership/group-work-theory-and-practice/ Muriel001 and myself organised for the group to meet up on a Facebook call a few times but they were cancelled. We finally managed yesterday (18 November) to chat with each other for 5 minutes, even with 5 minutes I felt it was better than no progression. Sandra had spoken first saying that the work she had done is on our google slides document and had to leave. I asked did each person have a look at the brief and if they had any suggestions or thoughts on it to which they said they were happy to go with what I had previously suggested. I didn’t mind this, I just felt the need for more suggestions other than mine to compare and contrast to get the best outcome for our group. Whimsyy's Sixth Week

Whimsyy's Sixth Week For today’s class, John spoke about the importance of our blogs and to make sure that they are refined. I did a few changes so I’m hoping my blogs are up to standard. John was also saying to go from describing my experience in Second Life to now reflecting on my experience of team building which I will go though at the end. We were also asked to talk about how I might convert my personal presence online into an identity for professional networking as it is very important, therefore, to be aware of the nature of the online environment and to maintain a high level of digital literacy. Personal presence online can be as important to employers/ employees/ customers and followers, one must take into consideration when posting on social media, that it is there for all to see and that you can be judged with positivity but to expect the negativity too. Not everything is everyone’s “cup of tea” and it can have a backlash effect on one’s personal career or how

Whimsyy's Fifth Week

Whimsyy's Fifth Week The medium is the message: https://www.azquotes.com/quote/195279 Our Class this week was moved to the day before its usual schedule as our lecture was away and it was a more suited day to go ahead with the class. Not everyone could attend but I managed to re-arrange my plans to make it as I wanted to ask about the assignment given. John spoke about Marshall McLuhan and how he sees tools as an extension of what we can do as well as an extension of ourselves. We were using different tools as examples to explain how his thought process went. If you have a hammer, it’s a hammer simple as, but if you pick it up, it is now part of you. Depending on what you chose to do with it and now you see though the hammers virtual eyes, thinking of the things you can do with it. We make tools do certain things, but the manner in which we use it, can be a cure or a disease. This impacts how we see everything around us. We then talked about how this all depends on wha

Whimsyy's Fourth Week

Whimsyy's Fourth Week We were asked to make a pitch to present during class just to help us get into the flow of presenting. I decided to go with "the question pitch" which I felt went best with what I wanted to pitch.  "The Question Pitch Ask yourself, ‘Are you better off now than you were four years ago? If your presentation’s central idea is already understood by your audience, a question pitch may be ideal. In the 1980 US presidential election campaign between Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, Reagan asked a simple question, “Ask yourself, ‘Are you better off now than you were four years ago?’” Most people immediately understood the question and its context. Reagan became the 40 th  President of the United States.  For Hydrolyzier it might be, “How can you supply a rural village in Ghana, West Africa with clean drinking water in under 36 hours, and at less than 60% of the cost of other water purification systems?” Having been put into groups and discus
